LES PAPETERIES DE GENVAL GENVAL, BELGIUM

«By opening up a stream and bringing it to the surface right in the heart of a mixed project like this one confirms that it’s possible to renew the urban districts of tomorrow.  A new chapter in the story! ».

Neighboourhood mixed development (housing, retail, retirement home)

A new chapter for the Papeteries of Genval

This abandoned former paper production site from the turn of the 19th century in Genval has been given a whole new lease of life. Not only has the river running through the area been cleaned and restored, but a thriving neighbourhood has been conceived and constructed.

The 7 hectares of terrain – built over three phases – is the perfect example of a mixed and modern development right next to a protected green space.

The project includes 390 apartments, 15,000 m2 of commercial properties, many already rented out to well-known retailers but also smaller local shops and a retirement home with 101 full-service apartments.

Offering easy access to Brussels via a regular train service close by, the site is a new hub of activity and a fitting final chapter to the Papeteries story.
