A fresh retail destination in Charleroi

In Couillet (Charleroi), Equilis developed Bellefleur, a 26,000 m² retail destination strategically located along the Route de Philippeville. The project illustrates Equilis’ expertise in retail park development and asset repositioning, combining new-build extension and adaptive reuse to create a coherent, high-quality commercial ensemble. Its name — Bellefleur — pays tribute to the industrial heritage of the region and to the resilience of its people, drawing inspiration from the iconic mining headframes once called “la belle fleur”.

Key Highlights
  • 26,000 m² of retail space, combining a 15,000 m² new extension with the existing 11,000 m² site.
  • Anchored by leading brands such as Carrefour Market, JBC, ZEB, Krëfel, Chaussea, Lunch Garden, and most recently Jysk, Poltronesofà and Jack & Jones.
  • Strong local identity: architectural and graphic design referencing Charleroi’s industrial past, with the iconic steel wheel as site emblem.
  • Urban integration and accessibility along one of Charleroi’s key southern corridors, providing a commercial complement to the city centre.
  • Long-term value creation: development, leasing and phased sale strategy demonstrating Equilis’ capacity to deliver and manage high-performance retail assets.
