First sustainable neighbourhood in Walloon Brabant, Wallonia

Sustainable in Court-Saint-Etienne

In 2014, the Walloon government (in Belgium) published a new “sustainable neighbourhood charter” in the hope of encouraging such developments in the region. High standards were set in terms of: location, connections to public transport, use of natural resources, landscaping, waste management, amongst others.

CourtVillage, a mixed-use area comprising shops, residences is the first site in Walloon Brabant to adhere to these new environmental standards.

On top of the 350 residences in a green and spacious environment, the site is easily accessible via public transport … both trains and busses; schools, banks and a library are nearby; a day care has been opened and cultural activities and more traditional retailers are established on the site.

In short, the entire project has been designed with sustainable and ecological responsibility in mind.
